Sermon Title: "Jesus Is Coming Again"

Scripture Reading: Luke 21:25-36

SIGNS OF CHRISTMAS COMING

Play or sing a couple of Christmas songs; have a newspaper available for students to find "signs" of Christmas and read them aloud; let children put up some Christmas decorations around the room.

SIGNS OF JESUS' COMING "Hide and Seek" Game

"HIDE" and have children "SEEK" for hidden signs and Bible verses around the room. Examples: Luke 21:27, Matt. 25:13; Matt. 16:28, I Thess. 4:16; Gal 4:4 (First time Jesus came); Ideas for phrases to put on slips of paper for children to find could come from hymns such as ONE DAY, HE IS COMING AGAIN, JESUS IS COMING AGAIN, THE KING IS COMING, WHAT IF IT WERE TODAY or the kids song from CEF, "COUNTDOWN SONG".

SING or READ "Jesus Is Coming Again" from a hymnal - have a short discussion about his coming and the EXCITEMENT of His coming!

GIFT DRAWING: If JESUS were coming today, WHAT GIFT would you give to Him? (Teacher can hand out a paper for children to draw their gift). This should lead to GREAT discussion --- some may say, "I'll give Him ME"!

CHRISTMAS IS COMING POSTER - Have the children make a poster showing the signs that Christmas is coming. Discuss and compare things such as Christmas trees, presents, decorations with the true meaning of Christmas such as manger, baby Jesus, and angels.

ROLE PLAY (for older children):

Another ADULT or one of the class members could run in the room and shout that JESUS IS COMING! Class discussion - "Would we be happy and excited" or sad and NOT ready for His coming"?
