Sermon Title: "Looking for a Sign"

Scripture Reading:  John 6:24-35

SIGN RACE: Divide children into two teams. Give each team a poster board and markers! One member from each team will run to the poster board and quickly draw one line and run back to the team. The next player will come and draw another line. This will continue until the entire team has taken a chance to play and then let teams decide what their SIGN is. This will be fun and probably funny to see what SIGN is made with everyone adding lines or circles! Tell children that our story today is about a SIGN.

BREAD RELAY: Children can be divided into teams or groups of 3 if desired. Give each team the same amount of bread or rolls or muffins and see which team can finish their "bread" first. Make sure that juice or water is available as well! Tell children to listen to the story and about the BREAD today!

BREAD BIBLE VERSE: Print Bible verse words on separate pieces of paper, shaped like a loaf of bread. Place the bread pictures with words around the floor. Let children recite the Bible verse together a few times. The boys can read one phrase and the girls can read another phrase. Then have children take turns HOPPING to the BREAD VERSE WORDS on the floor - hopping to the right words or phrases IN ORDER!

BREAD SIGNS: Give children bread shapes to draw signs on about our lesson today, such as pictures or stickers, etc, of Jesus, cross, bread, hearts, heaven, world, Bible. Color the background and place on the signs on a focal wall or large poster board.

FLOOR BREAD BASKET: Give children masking or duct tape to tape the shape of a bread loaf on the floor. Have mini muffins or biscuits available with a basket in the middle of the bread tape drawing. As children answer questions from today's Bible story, let them go to the teacher and get "one" mini muffin to put into the basket. After all the questions have been answered and the biscuits/muffins are in the BREAD BASKET, let children enjoy a snack while sitting around the bread taping.

BIBLE LACING: Provide each children with construction paper for a cover and some white paper for the pages. Let children lace their Bible pages together with teacher's help. (Tape the ends of the lace to hold in place). Tell children to draw signs from our lesson today on the pages, as well as words about JESUS!

BIBLE ON A STICK: Let children color and cut out 2 copies of a loaf of bread. Write B-I-B-L-E and draw crosses on the bread. Stuff with a a tissue and tape together. Stick a craft stick into the bottom of the Bible and tape or glue and let children tell today's Bible story as they wave their BIBLE ON A STICK.
