The Tithe

Theme

Tithing

Object

Use the letters from the word TITHE as an acrostic to teach the children what it means.

Scripture

"Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and try Me now in this,"says the Lord of hosts, "If I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it. And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes..." Malachi 3:10-11 (NKJ)

Tenth
Explain that tithe means tenth, and have some bills and coins on hand for the children to practice calculating how much that would be for an earnings of $5, $10, etc.

Into the storehouse
We are instructed to bring the tithe into the storehouse. That would be the church where we get our spiritual food.

Test God
God tells us we can prove Him or put Him to the test. If we give our tithes He will bless us abundantly!

Heaven's blessing
That's right. God promises to open the windows of heaven and pour out a great blessing on us! Keep in mind, God's blessings do not always come in the form of money although He will bless us in that way. But He also blesses us in other areas: health, peace, joy, favor, needs met, etc.

Enemy stopped
God says He will rebuke the enemy (which is Satan) for our sakes. That means when Satan tries to hinder our blessings from coming to us, God Himself will put him in his place!
