Sermon Title: "Lest We Forget"

Scripture Reading: Luke 20:35-36, Job 19:25-27a

REMEMBRANCE DAY CARD:

Children can draw a flag on the front of the card and a thank you note to someone who was in the military. Give this card to a special person who we honor.

FLAG TO REMEMBER:

Give each child a small flag to stick into a small amount of clay or syrofoam to "remember" or have children draw or trace a flag and color it.

THANKS REMEMBRANCE:

Have children trace their foot and their hand and cut them out. Glue their hand to the front part of the foot tracing and it will look like a little turkey and then children can write "Give Thanks lest we forget", or something similar. Decorate the turkey.

POPPY REMEMBRANCE:

Teacher can have large flowers cut out for children to color red and a big green stem to tape on the flower and then tape the slip of paper that says, "Remember those who died for their country" on the stem of their flower. Children may be able to find someone to give their poppy picture to and to honor them in "remembering".

PRAYER FOR THANKS:

Trace hands to look like "praying hands". Children can write on each finger area of the hand -- THANKS TO GOD FOR THOSE WHO SERVED OUR COUNTRY.

SACRIFICE AND LOVE POSTER:

Children can draw Happy faces on their poster and either trace or write I AM HAPPY FOR THE SACRIFICE DONE FOR OUR COUNTRY AND FOR JESUS' SACRIFICE FOR ME. Then children can add a BIG RED HEART on the poster and write or trace, LOVE FOR COUNTRY AND FOR CHRIST.

FREEDOM RIBBON:

Each child can receive a strip of ribbon about 6 - 8" long and about 2" wide. Children can decorate ribbon with stickers or markers, etc and write FREEDOM IN OUR COUNTRY AND FREEDOM IN CHRIST. Pin on child's shirt.

CELEBRATE NEON POSTER:

Children can do an individual poster or a larger CLASS poster that they can work on together. Draw CELEBRATE in large colorful letters and decorate each letter and around the word. Children can write fancy-made words around the poster like FAITH, TRUST, LIVE AGAIN, PROTECTION OF FREEDOM, etc.

TRUST IN CHRIST BANNER:

Provide each child with an 18 inch banner (approximately) and have them draw a very LARGE "T"rust in ChrisT". Make the "t's" much larger than the other letters to draw attention to the cross of Christ. The words TRUST IN CHRIST can be glittered for a decorative banner to take home.

BIBLE REMEMBRANCE:

Provide children with a large black Bible cut out and a smaller white paper cut out that will be glued inside the black Bible. Have children write or trace I WILL SEE JESUS. Older children could write in the "Bible" as well --- EVEN THOUGH WE DIE, WE WILL LIVE AGAIN. AMEN.
