Sermon Title: "Are You Ready for Christmas?"
Scripture Reading: Luke 3:1-6
| PREPARE THE WAY CLASSROOM: Teacher can turn chairs the wrong way; move the table to the wrong place; change the clock to the wrong time; turn the lights off, move the chalk and eraser away from chalk board; scribbling on the chalk board, etc -- Use your imagination!!).
As children begin to arrive, teacher can explain to the children that we need to PREPARE OUR CLASSROOM and then learn how JOHN "PREPARED THE WAY." The kids will really enjoy the fun of putting things back together as they make things "straight"!
DECORATING your room for Christmas and keeping the focus on CHRIST could continue from last week, if the teacher/class want to continue the above "example" of preparing!
CHRISTMAS TREE with a MESSAGE: Green construction paper. Cut at an angle from both of the bottom corners to the middle of the top of sheet to form a GREEN Christmas tree triangle. Draw a light line from side to side of tree to resemble garland or lights and have children write along the line: CHRISTMAS IS CHRIST COMING, or something similar that teacher would prefer.
CHRISTMAS CARD POSTER: Christmas cards available for kids to cut the manger scene out and tape or paste on red construction paper. Teacher can have older students write CHRIST OF CHRISTMAS on poster..... or teacher could have those words printed off for younger children to paste on their poster under the Christmas card picture.
