A GPS and a Bible

Scripture

In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Proverbs 3:6

How many of you know what this is? It is a gadget call a GPS, which stands for Global Positioning System. My daughter, Kate, who goes to college out of state, uses her GPS to get her everywhere she wants to go in the car. You see, she puts this GPS on her windshield, and then she plugs it in. When she turns it on, it tells her on the screen where she is, and then she types in where she wants to go. The GPS plots the path, and gives detailed directions for her trip. Isn’t that awesome?

Another cool thing about GPS is that if you make a wrong turn, within a few seconds, it tells you the right way to go. Earlier this summer Kate and I were on our way to North Carolina, and we took the wrong turn in Knoxville, TN. In no time at all, the GPS had us on the right highway!

Now I want to tell you about another kind of GPS, God’s Positioning System, and we call it the Bible! God has given us the Bible to help us find our way on the highway of life. When we are facing choices in our life, and we don’t know which way to turn, we can read God’s directions in His Word. And remember our scripture: in all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. That means that if we make the wrong turn, if we trust in God, he will get us back on the right path. Isn’t that great? And there is something else I know about God’s Positioning System. It’s Global!!! That means it’s for the entire world, and we’re supposed to let everyone we know about the word of God.

Will you pray with me? Dear Lord we thank you for giving us your Word. Help us to remember to use it daily on the highway of life. AMEN.
