Scripture

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.” I Corinthians 13:4-8a

Good morning! Do you know what tomorrow is? I am really excited about Vacation Bible School! So excited that today, I am not Ms. Tanya (replace with the name the kids call you). I am Tanya Roberts (replace with your full name), Tolar Baptist Reporter (replace with your church name). {Do a quick change into your press hat and suit coat.}

I am here to report on the love in action that has been seen at home and at church in Tolar, Texas. But first, we have a quote directly from God’s word in 1 Corinthians 13. Love never fails.”

I understand that you kids are eye-witnesses to love in action here is Tolar, is that right? Which one of you saw love being patient? (If kids do not respond prompt them with follow up questions or observations.) Susan, I heard that your mother showed you how to tie your shoes 100 times, is that right? What about love being kind? Which one of you witnessed that? I heard that your camp counselors worked so hard at the fundraisers that your camp cost went down from $200 to $50. Am I right about that? Who saw love not being envious? Jack, did you ever have a friend that was happy for you when you won something and he didn’t? No? He must not have been very loving at that moment. What do you think? We also reported directly from God’s word that love does not dishonor others, is not self-seeking and is not easily angered. What about not keeping record of wrongs? Sam, did you ever do something not so nice to your friend, and he said, “Don’t worry about it?” You are eye-witnesses to love in action, aren’t you? Love does not delight in evil. It rejoices in the truth.

Here you have it folks, love always protects, always trust, always preservers and best of all, love never fails!

Back to you, Joe. (Replace with the name of the music minister or whoever does the next part of the service.)
