Sermon Title: "Taking the Stand"

Scripture Reading:  Luke 24:36-48

"TAKING THE STAND" RELAY: Divide the children into 2 teams. Have a step or stool for the children to STAND on at the other side of the room and as children run to their "STAND", they shout out one thing that they know about JESUS and step down and run back to their team. Let all players take a turn. When the entire team has had a turn, the team will quickly SHOUT out -- TAKE A STAND FOR JESUS!!

WITNESSING WORDS: Divide the class into teams or do as a group together. Let children place their hand on a Bible and "witness" about something that THEY know is true, such as the color of their hair, or who their parents are, or their address, the school teacher, what Easter is about or what Christmas is celebrated for, etc. Let each child take a turn with their hand on the Bible as they "witness".

"FAITHFUL WITNESSES" FINGER PRINT ART: Let children make finger prints on a piece of construction paper and draw arms, legs, hair and such to look like people. Have children draw a "conversation bubble/circle" from the finger-printed person, with each person "witnessing" something about Jesus - such as "he healed the sick people", "Jesus rose from the dead", "Jesus loves me", "Jesus does miracles", "God's Word is the Bible", etc. Hang the WITNESS papers around the classroom and let children walk around and see what WITNESSING the other children had written.

WORDLESS BOOK WITNESSING: Give children staple 5 small pieces of construction paper together -- all the same size and one of each color of black, white, red, green and yellow. This is the "wordless book" that the children can use to WITNESS about Jesus. The black page is first and stands for our sins. The second page is white and stands for our hearts being white as snow; the third page is red and stands for Jesus' blood that washed our sins away; the 4th page is yellow and stands for heaven and the fifth page is green and can stand for Christian growth after accepting Jesus as our Savior. A BLUE page could be added as well to stand for baptizm as we "witness" to others about our decision to follow Christ.

WITNESS HAND: Let children draw/trace their own hands on a piece of construction paper and then write 5 things that they know about JESUS on the fingers of each hand.

WITNESS BRACELET: Give children the black, red, white, red, yellow, green and blue beads and string the beads onto a piece of plastic lacing and tell the GOSPEL story. Tie the string and wear home. Tell the children to make another WITNESS bracelet to give to someone else to witness to them about JESUS, as well!

BIBLE WITNESS BOOKLET: Give children construction paper to fold and make a WITNESS booklet. Each page can be a picture and some words to WITNESS something that they KNOW about Jesus. Stand their booklet on their kitchen table to share with their family and then with others, as they become familiar with how to witness!!

CLOUD WITNESSING: Give children supplies to draw clouds in the sky and glue on some cotton around the edges of each cloud. Write things in each cloud that would be a WITNESS for Him. Children can then color the sky or complete the picture how they choose.

WITNESSING HUNT: Before class, the teacher can hide many strips of paper with witnessing words on each slip, with things that we KNOW about Jesus and what HE has done for us! Let the children find some slips around the designated area of the room or rooms and then come back to their circle and tape or glue all the slips of paper onto another piece of construction paper and write the title as TAKE THE STAND!

M&M WITNESSING: Give children a bag of M & M's and before they eat them for a snack, have them WITNESS with each color of M& M, such as the red for Jesus' blood, the brown for sins, the yellow for heaven, the blue for baptism, the green for Christian growth, etc. CUPCAKES could also be made and let children place those M & M's on top of the cupcake in a smile shape and tell the Gospel story!
