Scripture

"Choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve...But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD" (Joshua 24:15).

Last Tuesday, the people of our country made a very important decision. We chose who we wanted to be the President and Vice-president of our country for the next four years. We also elected the people that we wanted to represent us in the House and the Senate. Those were very important decisions that we made because those who were elected will make laws that will affect every area of our lives for many years to come. I hope and pray that we have made wise choices.

As important as that decision was, there is another decision that we must make each day that is even more important. The Bible says, "Choose for yourselves today whom you will serve, but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." Every day we must make the choice as to whether we will serve the Lord, or whether we will serve someone or something else. Perhaps we will have to choose whether to serve God, or to serve our own selfish desires. Maybe we will have to choose between following God, or following our friends. You boys and girls were too young to be able to vote in the election last Tuesday, but you are not too young to vote to serve the Lord. I hope you will stand up and say, "As for me, I will serve the Lord!"

Lord, help us to make the right choices each day. Help us to make the choice to follow and serve you.
